Uhlmann acquires the Dutch manufacturer of counting and packaging systems Cremer Speciaalmachines B.V.

Effective January 1, 2017, Uhlmann Pac-Systeme GmbH & Co. KG, Laupheim, takes over the Dutch engineering specialist for counting systems Cremer Speciaalmachines B.V., located in Lisse near Amsterdam.

Cremer thus becomes part of the Uhlmann Group. The two family-owned companies are leaders in their respective market segments and intend to jointly push forward technological expertise, research and market development.

Uhlmann, the world’s leading system supplier for the packaging of pharmaceuticals in blisters and bottles, strengthens its market position in the field of bottle packaging systems by taking over the company and expands its strategic offer by the key technology for counting modules. Cremer´s core competence is the “counting and separating” of sensitive products from the pharmaceutical, food, consumer goods and agricultural industries. For Cremer, affiliation to the Uhlmann Group secures the long-term future of the company and provides access to new markets.

“It is important for me to hand over my company to a highly competent partner, who has a long-term interest in its healthy future development,” said Fred Cremer, owner of Cremer Speciaalmachines. “In this sense, we have found our new home at Uhlmann.”
“The Cremer brand and the Lisse production site will remain”, confirms Tobias Uhlmann, owner and chairman of the Uhlmann Supervisory Board. “Our expertises complement perfectly, and we are very pleased that Fred Cremer will continue to engage in the company. By bundling our expertise, we will significantly drive forward the joint work on innovative products.”

Both family businesses were founded around the same time: While Uhlmann laid the foundation for pharmaceutical packaging in 1948 with its production of precision molds for suppositories, Cremer began developing and producing a counting device for tulip-bulbs in 1949. Both Cremer and Uhlmann developed successfully in their technological and market expertise over the last decades; common values and structures of the family enterprises should continue to be nourished.

The Uhlmann Group with an annual turnover of around 300 million euros employs around 1,800 people worldwide. Headquarter of Uhlmann is Laupheim in Germany. Cremer Speciaalmaschines B.V. has an annual turnover of EUR 26 million and employs 130 people at their location in Lisse near Amsterdam in the Netherlands.
